For example girls used to wear only salwar kameez or long skirts and scarves and saris. And the boys used to wear flair bottomed trousers and floral prints shirts. This was the trend for a very long time. Now many youngsters and teenagers are experimenting with their looks. And not just clothes, they are making a style statement with their hair and accessories too.

Trends in Fashion depend a lot upon the latest Bollywood Trends. Many people emulate what actors and actresses wear. Many girls have started to put on extensions to their hair. Some people also color their hair. Also guys, seeing the actors sport long manes and beards. The moustache is also back in fashion. Guys are also wearing earrings. Girls watching the actresses wearing trendy clothes are opting for those clothes too.

Fashion Trends usually last for a year or two. For example some years back, the jeans were till midriff and were a little loose. There were no straight fit jeans. But today, there are various kinds of jeans available. Even they are available in various colors. Various kinds of t shirts are also available. And all these clothes available in India are at par with international fashion too. Whatever you get abroad you can get here also. In fact you can get it cheaper here. Trends in Fashion keep changing and new ones keep coming in. and the markets are always buzzing with the latest trends in fashion. Whether the trend be wearing sunglasses, wearing long earrings, wearing a kurta over jeans etc. You can find everything in the fashion market of India.

Trends in Fashion also depend upon various seasons. Like in summer, girls wear skirts and cotton shirts and kurtis. In winter they wear trendy t shirts with a cool jacket over it. This way they make a style statement also. In rainy season too the clothes are different.

Mini Skirts to church?

Have you noticed that many of the new churches today allow their congregation to wear pretty much what ever they want to church? Even some of the pastors wear Hawaiian shirts instead of suits and ties. Some members might arrive wearing jeans with holes in them and flip-flops. Others might be sporting t-shirts with that have controversial statements on them. Would Jesus approve?

I used to attend this church back in my hometown that had an unspoken dress code that didn’t allow the women to wear any long pants to church. Only dresses and skirts that fell far below the knee. The men only wore dress pants and shirts, or suits with a tie. I really liked this church, but I was finding that trying to get ready to go was really tough for me because somehow I could never put together the right clothes! I normally never wore dresses that length so my selection was difficult at times unfortunately, even though I did specifically buy the clothes just to wear to church. Okay I’m not a fashion model or anything, but I just wanted to fit in!

I admit, maybe it seems like not dressing up might somehow be disrespecting the Church and maybe even God himself. I have thought about that, but I really think that there has to be a happy medium somewhere. If you’re going to attend a church, it seems right or should I say “proper” to dress in a way that would be pleasing to Jesus. Imagine him sitting in a pew next to you. Wouldn’t that really bring the “appropriate attire” issue into perspective? But my theory is as long as you dress respectfully and you are there to learn the good word of God, then it’s what is in your heart that really matters.
